Full-scale Exercise “Spartan Shield”

On Monday, June 15, 2015 Tufts University and multiple partners conducted a full-scale exercise, named “Spartan Shield”, simulating a complex incident on the Medford/Somerville campus. Participating agencies included Armstrong Ambulance, Cataldo Ambulance, Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, Massachusetts State Police, Medford Fire, Medford Police, Somerville Fire, Somerville Police, Tisch Library, Tufts Emergency Medical Services, and Tufts University Police. The exercise was announced beforehand by multiple means including email, telephone notifications by Medford and Somerville to surrounding residents, and postings on websites and via social media. The test and associated activities lasted from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm.
