Desktop Alerting Public Beta

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and Tufts Technology Services (TTS) are pleased to announce a public beta testing period of a new way to receive emergency alert messages directly on your computer screen – Alertus Desktop Alert. OEM and TTS invite members of the Tufts community to install this software and provide feedback while we work to develop the service for wider use.

Example desktop alert message filling the entire computer screen.

Alertus Desktop Alert running on your Mac or Windows computer can display a TuftsAlert message on your computer screen, and may be faster than text messaging, email, or telephone.

  • Since this is a beta service, while we strive to provide reliable performance, there may be hiccups or interruptions, and alert delivery is not guaranteed.
  • Desktop alerting is one in an array of methods to spread critical information, and it remains important to keep your contact info up to date in TuftsAlert.

Install on a University-owned computer
